Moon Cycle Cravings In Comfy Clothes

Chocolate-covered caramel, birthing nostalgia, quickened impatience, wavering horniness, and a few pimples. It’s that special time of the month, ladies. Do you have your pamper package ready? Not sure what a pamper package is, well, allow me to share. It’s a gift box to your womb. Something our foremothers could have passed down to us and we should do for our daughters, nieces, cousins, or girl friends.

Find a box you plan to decorate however you feel. Paint the box, bedazzle it, or keep it sweet and simple. Inside your box, place all the things you know your sweet feminine soul and womb would thank you for on those moon cycle days where all you want to do is cozy up and be alone. You may want to place that favorite herbal tea, a heating pad (which you could make out of a cute sock and two cups of whole flaxseeds), a scented candle, a journal, your favorite DVD movie, or book.

I’m blessed to have reached 42 and feel like 24 (when I’m not pushing my limits by jumping off boulders and riding trikes with my kids). One very persistent event since age 12 is a moon cycle and my mother did her best to not to rush my maturity. I made a note to be as loving and celebratory with my daughters as she was with me (oh, maybe even throw them a moon cycle party!).

My cycle has never been consistently regular. My mother did not know any better than what was taught to her and her desire to do better by me. She believed my inconsistent cycles were a problem. I have been tested, poked, questioned, prescribed, and told I would never have children without medical assistance. Today, I can now say, “fuck dem doctors!” I was pregnant with my now 14 year- old son two years after they said I couldn’t conceive due to endometriosis. Granted, this is my body and my experience. WE ARE ALL UNIQUELY DIFFERENT and should consult as many professionals as one can when we aren’t sure what’s going on with our bodies and minds.

I’ve learned how to care for my body with the right foods, plenty of water, and having as much fun as possible with this life that’s been gifted to me Three children in all fill my heart and my time more than I could have ever imagined. I am grateful. My cycles are still irregular, I still have occasional breakouts, and I crave chocolate like no one's business. I also get hella horny about week before my moon shedding. The cycles may be irregular, but I'm happy to know my body well enough to be prepared. When Aunt Virginia from the Virgin Islands comes to visit, I welcome her with open arms, chocolate, wine, incense, candles, and a stylish comfy jumper. We chill like that!

How do you welcome yours?  Or do you?
